The site of a large stupa, elaborate railings, and a major monastery. It is located next to the village of Bharhut located on the main highway between Bhilsa and Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The site is replete with important inscriptions that identify donors from as far away as Maharashtra. One carved panel shows the donation that built the main monastery. Excavation has located a monastery that dates from around 1000 CE. The site seems to have been in active use from about the third century BCE to the around 1200 CE.
