Kandahar Province. The old city of Kandahar is some 3 kilometers to the west of the modern city, at the foot of the Qaitul ridge.

The ancient city consists of a large urban site at the foot of a precipitous ridge surrounded by a massive outer fortification walls and a moat, while interior secondary walls divide the site into nine quarters. […]
