Khiching monastery, (near) Karanjia, Odisha, IN

Raw data

Khiching ( lat. 21 degrees 56 minutes N. x long. 85 degrees 52 minutes E) in Orissa (now Odissa), India. The site has the remains of a rectilinear building whose structure, cells surrounding a courtyard, suggest Buddhist use. Excavation uncovered several Buddhist terracotta plaques, reinforcing this hypothesis. Other possible mounds could be monasteries. The site is Vajrayana and a central date of the 10th century is likely, with structures as late as the twelfth century.
