Raw data

This monastery complex is located "16 miles N. of Una, one mile N. of Vankia and ten miles W. of Dedan, close to the Rupen River. It consists of 60 caves, all of the early unadorned Theravada style. Stylistically, these caves date to c. 100 CE, though there are no inscriptions to document the site. Sana apparently had no later Mahayana phase.
