In 730s Tao-hsüan resided in Ta-fu-hsien monastery (大福先寺) in Loyang - Elisséeff (1936:86)
"[T]he Tendai Bodhisattva-stla tradition, [was] inherited from Northern Ch'an through Tao-hsüan (J. Dosen) 702-760." - Faure (1987: immediately following footnote no. 44)
[Therefore, he must not be confused with an earlier monk, also called Dosen, i.e. "Dosen 道宣 Ch. Tao-hsuan (596-667); the founder of the Nanshan 南山 (Nanzan) sect of the Vinaya (Lu 律, Ritsu) school in China."
